This fascinating introductory course uses video and audio recordings to help you understand opera, musical drama and musicals. Explore the REAL meaning of opera, musical dramas, musicals: its elements and structures, the varieties and characteristics of the human voice and role interpretation. Acquire the tools to fully enjoy great operas, musical dramas & musicals.
Six two hour sessions form 1 - 3 pm at the 92Y (Tribeca) 200 Hudson Street (at Canal), New York, NY 10013.
April 9, 2010 Opera, Musical Appreciation Level II
This course delves further into the world of opera and further explores the varieties and characteristics of the human voice and role interpretation, including a close look at the Composition / Pre-Production / Production of operas, musical dramas and musicals. Experience Real-Professional Rehearsals and/or 'Live' Performances (separate fee). Prerequisite: Opera, Musical Drama, Musical Appreciation I or permission of instructor.
